[Welcome to Night Vale] just close your eyes, the sun is going down (Cecil gen)

Title: just close your eyes, the sun is going down
Fandom: Welcome to Night Vale
Length: 371 words
Prompt: fic_promptly: Welcome to Night Vale, Drugged-Up Government Bear, Another day at work
Pairing: Cecil gen
Other: PG for general Night Vale weirdness.

Excerpt: It would be just another day in Night Vale, except that it's Christmas, and so the drugged-up government bear we all call Santa Claus is roaming the streets. His red and white costume is still festive, listeners, none of the blood has dried. I would recommend avoiding children today if possible.

It would be just another day in Night Vale, except that it's Christmas, and so the drugged-up government bear we all call Santa Claus is roaming the streets. His red and white costume is still festive, listeners, none of the blood has dried. I would recommend avoiding children today if possible.

If you are all safely locked in your homes today, enjoying a roaring fire in your otherwise dangerous chimneys, I am glad to be with you, celebrating the last gasp of winter. Soon the pools will be open again, the chlorine stinging your nose, the water deceptively still.

But not yet, not yet. Now we have the bear, and if you'd like to check his progress, you can go to the Nightvale Public Radio website, at nvpr.com, to see a graphic that Intern Kayla has been dutifully updating every half hour. If you would like to report a Santa sighting, please send an email to Kayla. She doesn't want to sneak up on Santa Claus by accident! That would be naughty.

Listeners, I have to admit, this is my favorite season. I'm always on the edge of my seat to see if the solstice will end. So I thought I'd give a few good holiday tips!

I'm sure you've all put out the traditional offerings to your bloodstone, but for a nice festive scent, try mixing cinnamon or cloves in with your favorite soft meats. When they burn, they leave behind such a pleasant smell.

If you've brought a poinsetta into the house, remember that the leaves are poisonous to most small pets! Unless you're looking for a Christmas tragedy, make sure you keep them out of reach of curious animals. I find that mine is a great fly-catcher, so I keep it on my kitchen counter by the fruit!

Now, a tip on gift wrapping--

Ah, did you hear that big roaring sound? It seems that Santa Claus has made it to the radio station! Unfortunately Station Management is a bit of a Scrooge, so they seem to be having a disagreement. I'm going to go check our station stockings while they're both distracted.

So now, the weather...
