[Bob's Burgers] you look like my next mistake (Belchers gen)
Title: you look like my next mistake
Fandom: Bob's Burgers
Length: 302 words
Prompt: fic_promptly: Bob's Burgers, Belcher Siblings, trying to run the restaurant while their folks are laid up
Pairing: Belchers gen
Other: n/a
Excerpt: "I'm pretty sure this is a health code violation," Teddy says, but when Gene pushes the plate across the counter, he starts eating the burger anyway.
"I'm pretty sure this is a health code violation," Teddy says, but when Gene pushes the plate across the counter, he starts eating the burger anyway.
"It is not," Tina says, sounding a little whiny, "I am certified on this grill." She holds up the spatula as if in defense.
"Certified by who?" Louise asks, darting across the restaurant to take the plate of someone who isn't quite done with their food. The man stares after her in confusion. Louise climbs up on a barstool and begins eating his fries.
"By whom," Gene corrects in his most serious voice. It would probably work better if he wasn't wearing the hamburger costume.
"By Dad," Tina says. "I'm pretty sure he'd want me to open the restaurant today. It's Friday, we get a lot of customers on Friday."
The restaurant is now empty except for Teddy, since the other customer has paid and left. He didn't give Louise a tip so she marks his name down in her little black book for later.
"You really should be at school, though," Teddy says, shifting uncomfortably. He has never been too good at this whole cool uncle thing, not just because they aren't actually related, but because he's always steamrollered by their enthusiasm.
"Who needs math?" Gene asks. "Not me!"
"You're right," Louise says. "Let me handle it."
"Uhhhhhhhh..." Tina says.
"I'm sure your parents will be better by tomorrow," Teddy says optimistically.
"They've got the flu," Louise says, sounding much more excited about it than she should be. "They've been in the bathroom all night. Both ends."
Teddy is beginning to feel a little queasy himself, in fact. He beats a hasty retreat, leaving the restaurant and the Belchers to their fate.
It's okay though, because they all get out before the place burns down.
