[Gravity Falls] did you have to ruin what was shining (Mabel/Pacifica)

Title: did you have to ruin what was shining
Fandom: Gravity Falls
Length: 238 words
Prompt: Gravity Falls fic battle: For the first time Pacifica feels like she doesn't have -everything-
Pairing: Mabel/Pacifica
Other: n/a

Excerpt: Mabel would be gone after the summer ended. It wasn't worth spending the time to think about her. There were boys to flirt with, skirts to buy, golf to practice.

Pacifica couldn't sleep, and she didn't understand why. The temperature in her bedroom was perfect, her face cream was beautifying her even now, and the room was pleasantly dark. But she couldn't get comfortable.

It took a while for Pacifica to recognize the feeling, since she didn't experience it often: dissatisfaction.

It took her even longer to identify the cause of that feeling, since she was sure she couldn't stand Mabel Pine or her useless family. The idea of Mabel having more anything than her was just impossible.

(Except maybe more ugly sweaters.)

Anyway, Pacifica knew her parents loved her, they were just busy. They didn't have time to attend all of the events that she inevitably won or to go shopping together on weekends or anything like that. Her parents were Northwests, important people, and she was going to grow up to be just like them. That was her destiny. She was going to rule this town.

Mabel would be gone after the summer ended. It wasn't worth spending the time to think about her. There were boys to flirt with, skirts to buy, golf to practice. She needed a new instructor, come to think of it. She'd have to tell her mother in the morning.

Pacifica turned over on her bed again, pulling the covers up around herself, and refused to think about it any longer. But the night was long, and lonely.
