It's All Gleek to Me (Brittany and Tina gen)
Title: It's All Gleek to Me
Fandom: Glee
Length: 232 words
Prompt: Glee Fic!Battle: Brittany/Tina, Brittany wants to know if "Asian" is a language, Any
Pairing: Brittany and Tina gen
Other: A poor attempt at humor, as you should see from the title.
Excerpt: "No, no," Brittany says, tilting her head to one side. "Asian. Is it a hard language? Is that why you stutter?"
"Is it hard to learn?" Brittany asks.
Tina looks up from her math homework. She isn't often in the Glee room when only Brittany is there. Usually Brittany is almost late because of cheerleading, or Artie is around, or something like that. But her last period is study hall so sometimes she sneaks down here instead of going. This is the first time Brittany has been here too. She hasn't asked, but she assumes Brittany is skipping something. The Cheerios never get in trouble for stuff like that.
"W-w-well, I've never been very good with fractions," Tina answers hesitantly.
"No, no," Brittany says, tilting her head to one side. "Asian. Is it a hard language? Is that why you stutter?"
Tina blinks. What is it Rachel said? That Brittany thinks that the square root of 4 is rainbows? It isn't hard to believe.
"I don't speak it," she says. "I mean." Apparently Brittany is a little contagious. "I'm Chinese, not just Asian. On my dad's side. But I don't know it."
"Oh," Brittany says. She seems as if she wants to say something more, but she doesn't, so Tina returns to contemplating problem number three. She manages about half of it before Brittany does manage to find her words.
"Doesn't that make it hard to talk to your dad?"
Tina sighs.
