Note: Set mid-canon, right after Sakura finds out that Yue is fading.

Excerpt: "You look like you're thinking awfully hard," Eriol said.

"You look like you're thinking awfully hard."

"Hoe?"

Sakura broke from her daze and met the eyes of Eriol. He was smiling, like always, so she smiled back.

"What dares to capture your imagination, Sakura-san?" he asked her. She sighed a little.

"Just thinking about... a friend of mine. Because I didn't know what was going on with him," and here she hesitated, unsure of how much to say, "he almost had a great deal of trouble. I wish he would have trusted me."

"But Sakura-san," Eriol corrected gently, "surely he trusted you." He stood straight as the bell rang and the students began to move to their seats.

"What do you mean, Eriol-kun?" she said, grabbing his arm, and he could see pain in her eyes.

"He trusted that everything would be all right, because you taught him it would," Eriol said in a strangely knowing voice, and somehow she knew he was right. She blushed and smiled.

When Syaoran came in and saw their eye contact, it bothered him, so he stomped over to ask Sakura how she was doing. Eriol faded back out of view. He was very good at that.
