Excerpt: Other words he crossed out as soon as he wrote them, "You hurt him, you disappeared, I think he loved you."
He wrote her a letter before he ever met her, scribbles that grew even less legible as his hand crossed the page and his thoughts got ahead of his fingers. "Thank you," it said in some parts, "thank you, thank you." Other words he crossed out as soon as he wrote them, "You hurt him, you disappeared, I think he loved you."
When he was done, Yuki looked down at the scrawl that could arguably be called a letter. He poked it with his pen, as if afraid it would come alive. Something in him had. He was scared of being this attached to someone.
At the bottom he wrote, "Thank you for loving him the best you could. Sincerely, Tsukihiro Yukito." Carefully he folded the letter, thrust it into an envelope, and threw it into the trash. There wasn't any need to send it. It was messy and half of it was nonsense.
But he'd written the letter and it helped him, when he met her finally, to shake her hand and smile an honest smile. She had a beautiful smile, that Mizuki Kaho. He found he couldn't dislike her, even knowing she had hurt Touya. Perhaps, he thought later, it was moon calling to moon.
The second time he wrote, two years after she'd left for England with the Clow reincarnate, he invited her to come for a visit, to see Tomoeda and Sakura and the life he'd made with Touya. She didn't come, but he felt good about sending it anyway.
