"Puu," God said wisely, and I couldn't prevent a giggle. Yeah, I paid for it later when I woke with a splitting headache and a bad taste in my mouth, but I'd promised to keep watch and to let him know. The Divine Mokona had access to all sorts of time-things I didn't dare touch.

"Please tell him that she made it. The Cards are caught," I told Mokona. It nodded sagely and thankfully omitted any silly noises this time.

The dream shattered and I awoke with Larg snuggled beside me. I looked up in the darkness. For the first time in a long time, I missed him.
