Excerpt: She sighed as she was getting dressed and at breakfast Kero gently asked her what was going on. She smiled, sighed again, rested her head in one hand.
When Sakura woke in the morning, she could still feel the heat of his kiss on her cheek. It burned there, and she couldn't yet tell whether that wa pleasant or just scary.
She sighed as she was getting dressed and at breakfast Kero gently asked her what was going on. She smiled, sighed again, rested her head in one hand.
"I don't know yet," she replied. Kero smiled and good-naturedly batted at her hand.
"Distracted as a girl in love," he said, smiling, then froze. That wasn't something they talked about anymore (though before her "loss," as he thought of it, there had been nights and nights filled with her sighs over that brat, that loser, that boy who let her go).
She didn't even notice, leaving in plenty of time to dawdle down the streets, hoping and not hoping she'd meet Eriol, distracted hand on her warm cheek. The kiss had been--
It had been the final step to letting go of Syaoran, and she knew that was done, and the year was new, and--
She just didn't know yet about Eriol, and why this still felt like loss.
