Summary: Chiharu wonders how Sakura still seems young at their fifteen-year high school reunion. Yamazaki reminds her that she's still young and beautiful to him.
Seeing Sakura again made Chiharu feel self-conscious. They'd both graduated the same year, of course, but somehow Sakura had managed to retain her youthful look, even fifteen years after high school ended. Chiharu herself had two sons and too many frown lines.
It was good to see Sakura again anyway, all bright smiles and still mooning over her husband (who had aged the same way everyone else had, except for his young smile). She had four children (all four before she turned thirty, to Chiharu's amazement) and yet she still looked like she could be wearing that school uniform and complaining about math class. It was a fun reunion and a good time to reminisce.
"Perhaps she is immortal," Takashi suggested in a joking tone when she told him why she couldn't sleep. It sounded stupid, even to her, but Chiharu couldn't help but wonder how she got so old so quickly. Time and stress had weighed down her post-graduate years.
"Don't be silly," Chiharu said, cupping his cheek. He could see her mind was still elsewhere, so he leaned forward and gently kissed her neck.
"Perhaps--" he said, and a kiss, "she has discovered magic and uses it to keep herself youthful." Each of his words were punctuated with kisses and nibbles. Chiharu giggled.
"You and your lies, Takashi..." she said. He stroked her cheek and then whispered in her ear.
"Of course, I know how to do magic too. And it definitely makes you feel young..."
"Takashi," she said, pretending to protest, but he took her in his arms and the blood coursing through her body certainly made her feel youthful again. Chiharu didn't really care about Sakura's secret after that.
