Excerpt: "Well, at least Daidouji-san is a nice girl. She won't try to take advantage of you."
"It's very flattering, but, well... I have a date," Touya said for the millionth time, looking and feeling very uncomfortable.
"Who?" the girl asked, flipping her short blond hair back in a manner that suggested that this date could be "taken care of."
Touya should his head. The girl stomped away.
There was one more before lunch, and three waiting for him after practice. He brushed them off as quickly as he could.

"I don't know if I can go through with this, Yuki," Touya said. He'd made it to the safety of his own home without any new ambushes, somehow. He lay back on the bed and threw an arm over his eyes, the picture of exhaustion. Yuki laughed.
"You go through it every year," he reminded.
"Yeah, but this time I'm actually going to go to the thing," Touya replied. "Why did I think this would be a good idea...?"
"Because Sakura and Syaoran are going, and you have a sister complex," Yukito said with a cheerful smile. Touya sat up suddenly.
"That's right," he said. "And I can't chaperone unless I'm asked."
"Strange that they let graduates attend the dance at all," Yuki mused, filling in an answer to a calculus problem. He handed Touya's book to him and half-heartedly Touya found the page they were working on.
"I don't care how strange it is. I'm not letting that brat take advantage of my sister. I know how those dances are..." he said darkly.
"But, To-ya, you never went to any..."
"You don't like to dance," Touya mumbled. Yuki looked away for a moment. They really had been better friends, once they realized it.
"Well, at least Daidouji-san is a nice girl. She won't try to take advantage of you." Yukito's eyes glittered with humor.
Touya threw his pencil at Yuki, but it did him no good; his good-natured best friend simply handed it back.
"You'll need this for calculus. We're doing derivatives by the formula today."
Touya groaned. And he would have to do it all again tomorrow...

It was Saturday and he'd asked off on all three of his jobs so he could go to this dance thing. He had too much energy and nothing to do, especially after he'd wandered into the kitchen at eleven and found Daidouji pinning up Sakura's hair.
"This thing doesn't start until seven, right?" he asked. Sakura began to nod, but Daidouji made a noise of protest around the bobby pins in her mouth. She managed to talk fairly coherently after she pulled another few pins out of her mouth. Touya would have thought long hair to be a burden, but Sakura didn't seem to mind. She'd grown it out when she turned fourteen.
"Don't move! Yes, at seven."
"Isn't a bit early to be doing hair?"
"No," Daidouji said happily. Sakura was going to shake her head, but gently Daidouji stopped her and stuck another pin in behind her ear.
Touya grabbed an apple and considered going back to bed. He wasn't sure what all the fuss was about. It was just a silly dance.
In the back of his mind he wondered how Daidouji would do her own glossy black hair, and then he tossed the thought away. Didn't matter. He had a mission!

At six-thirty, the brat showed up, nicely attired, and he traded glares with Touya for several minutes until the girls floated into view. The kid's stamina had gotten better over the years, but Touya still thought that the height difference (shrinking too quickly) and his years of practice made him come out on top.
That, and the fact that when Sakura appeared, the brat was nearly drooling and Touya had to resist smacking him on the back of the head. He knew that if he smacked the boy, Sakura would kick him with those heels of hers, and they hurt.
"Sakura-chan, you... wow," the brat managed. Touya considered hitting him anyway.
Daidouji threw him off for a minute. His sister was wearing something pink and poufy, as expected, but she was wearing a slinky plum-colored dress that showed off the attributes she had acquired at some point during high school (to think he hadn't noticed...).
"Very handsome, Kinomoto-kun," she said.
"Um... thank you," Touya said after a moment. "And you... um, as well. You look nice."
The brat kissed Sakura on the cheek, but Touya was feeling generous and let it go. They went to the dance.

"You are a very good dancer, Kinomoto-san," Daidouji said, her body floating in his arms. "Who taught you to waltz?"
"My mother," he said after a moment, looking down at her. She nodded, and there was something resembling sympathy in her eyes, but not quite. It was that she understood his loss, for she had lost her father at a young age.
"My mother said that Nadeshiko-san was not very graceful," Daidouji said after a moment. Touya smiled a little.
"She wasn't, but we had fun."
"The last song!" the DJ announced. Touya was glad. Watching over his pure Sakura had been a full-time job tonight. Daidouji had been a good sport about it, however (it had in fact been her idea to invite him to go with her). Some of the things these kids did could barely count as dancing, rather than foreplay... Thankfully, the brat was rather wooden in his movements and didn't attempt to do something stupid like cop a feel.
The last song was a slow one and automatically he adjusted their positions. Daidouji had sized him up well and bought heels that brought her to his shoulder. She rested her head there now, and he enjoyed the feel of her body in his arms. She was so delicate in appearance, but so strong emotionally.
If Touya had missed her crush on Sakura, he would have had to be blind. He knew what she had gone through when Syaoran returned to Tomoeda. He even emphasized with her a little bit.
"I had a good time, Kinomoto-kun," she said quietly.
"I did too," he said, trying his best to ignore the slowly spinning figures of his sister and her boyfriend. He felt a little guilty for neglecting her.
"You know, you have Sakura's ears," she said, lifting her arm and running a finger along his earlobe. It made him shiver a little.
"You can call me Touya-kun, if you'd like," he said impulsively. She repeated his name and it made him feel warm. She was comfortable to him, like Sakura and his father and Yuki were comfortable. She'd been in the periphery of his life for a long time. Why not use first names?
"Thanks for coming with me, Touya-kun," she said. He patted her on the head and then as the song ended, he kissed her forehead.
Her blush was gratifying. Sakura looked over at the two of them, awkwardly adorable, and smiled. But she didn't say anything. Ten different girls had walked up during the course of the event and tried to cut in and have a dance with Touya, but he wouldn't let them (and after that, they stopped trying). Sakura didn't know what was going on, but it was interesting.
The moment broke and Touya grabbed Tomoyo's hand, so not to lose her in the crowd, and easily located his sister and the brat.
"Ready to go?" he asked, loosening his collar.
"Chiharu-chan is having an after-party, Onii-chan, and we were wondering if we could go..." Sakura said hopefully.
"An after-party? To the party?" Touya said, lifting an eyebrow. Sakura pouted.
"Dad said you have to be home by midnight," he said after a moment. He leaned down to Sakura's eye level. "And if the brat tries anything, call me immediately."
"Yes, Onii-chan, getting a ride with Chiharu-chan, see you later!" Sakura said, grabbing Syaoran's hand and disappearing into the crowd.
Touya drove Tomoyo home and walked her to her door.
"See you around, I guess," he said. He wasn't quite sure why he had kissed her earlier. Caught up in the moment, he supposed. But she was his little sister's best friend, for crying out loud!
He didn't protest when she grabbed his shoulder and leaned up on her toes to give him a kiss on the mouth.
"See you around," she said, opening the door, and she waved before it shut behind her.
"Tomoyo-san," Touya mumbled, feeling light-hearted, wanting to drop the honorific already, wanting to knock on the door just to see her face again.
Instead he went home and went to bed, and if Sakura looked in on him and giggled, she never told him what she thought was funny, and later, that his "surprise" romance with Tomoyo wasn't surprising at all.

I loved how you wrote Touya and his relationship with Sakura, and I loved how he did with Tomoyo several of the things that he tried to protect Sakura from :)
Is there a posibility for a sequel or more Tomoyo/Touya? I am adicted :D
