Summary: Takashi and Chiharu have a discussion about marriage customs and the fact that Yamazaki family members always lie (somehow Chiharu doubts it).

Their wedding was elegant and beautiful. Everything worked out just how Chiharu had planned it. Takashi wasn't close enough to steal the microphone and spout lies after Syaoran gave the toast. Her dress didn't rip, and he said, "I do," in the right place instead of considering for a long while like he had (jokingly, he claimed) at rehearsal.

It was everything Chiharu had wanted and hardly what she had expected (in the end, she thought it would all go wrong), and they found themselves three days later in a hotel room overlooking the Sea of Japan, completely content with themselves.

"Mrs. Yamazaki," Takashi said after a moment. She blushed. It was going to be hard to get used to, but she'd been waiting for this name for a long time. Secretly she loved it.

"Don't call me that," she said, reaching out and swatting him lazily. They were both lying on the hotel bed, head to toe, fully clothed, just relaxing after the long day.

"Do you know..." Takashi began, and her utter contentment began to dissolve. For three days he hadn't told a lie. But she'd known it wouldn't last.

"Did you know the reason that women take their husband's name?" he said, rolling over on his stomach and shifting so he could look at her.

"So their husband can claim them as property?" she said wryly, rolling her eyes.

"Maybe," Takashi said. "But I think it's because that's another way of being attached to a person in polite society. Did you know that the ancient Chinese never dropped any of their surnames? They simply added the new one on the end, so that they didn't lose the family history. This was great until you started to forget your seven-greats-grandfather's last name, and he was cast out of the family..."

Chiharu sat up. "Really?" she said, interested despite her suspicions.

"You should have asked Li-kun, he would have told you all about it. He has fifteen last names, but he usually just uses Li." Takashi smiled, and it was a familiar smile, and Chiharu knew he was lying.

"Takashi!" she scolded, scrambling to grab his neck. "What did I say about lying?!"

"But Chiharu darling," Takashi said, trying to breathe despite her efforts, "you're a Yamazaki now, and all Yamazaki's lie..."

"Then you should have become a Mihara," she said, releasing him and falling back down onto the bed next to him. To show that she really wasn't angry-- it was one of his more plausible lies, after all-- she reached out and took his hand.

"But don't you want everyone you meet to know you belong to me now?" Takashi said, using her hand to pull her closer to him.

"Yes, I suppose," she admitted after a moment, snuggling closer to him and resting her head on his chest. Mr. and Mrs. Yamazaki took a nap together in their honeymoon suite overlooking the Sea of Japan.

Nyaaaww... and he said, "I do," in the right place instead of considering for a long while like he had (jokingly, he claimed) at rehearsal. gave me this perfectly hilarious mental image of Yamazaki sitting back for a moment, furrowing his brow and putting his hand to his chin in thought, and Chiharu's face purpling in anger, stark against her wedding dress... XD And then she throttles her groom, and everyone thinks, "oh boy, this is going to be a hectic relationship."

Exactly how I had pictured it also. ^^ But then again, I doubt anyone would be surprised, lol.
