Sometimes when Kaho hugs me, I know she's thinking about Clow and how I have just said something he would. Those moments are too frequent and at night I escape to my study and sit on the floor. His old throne was not mine anymore, nor did I want it.

I sit there and think about a little green-eyed girl who believes I am my own person, even when I myself have lost all hope.

"How long will I live?" she asked that night. She held his hand like she feared he'd leave. He wouldn't, hungering for her innocence, and knowing that every time they met like this he chipped it away.

"As long as you need to," he said lazily.

"As long as Clow?" she asked. She tensed and he knew she meant, "long enough to be lonely." He kissed her neck.

"Perhaps," he said, "as long as I shall live."

"And we will be together, always?"

"Always," he said. She sighed; he thanked Clow for her innocence, wishing he didn't have to lie.
