The first note landed smartly in the middle of his math homework. He wasn't sure who it was from until he caught Tomoyo looking at him from the corner of his eye. Curiously and quietly, he unfolded the paper.

Doesn't Sakura look lovely today? You're staring more than usual... ♥ Tomoyo

He turned red and scribbled something on the back, and tossed it toward her. She caught it without the teacher noticing and unfolded the page.

Leave me alone. -Syaoran.

Oh, but Li-kun, don't you want to tell Sakura she's gorgeous? Don't you want to run your hands through her hair? ♥ Tomoyo

Syaoran's next words were messier and his pencil pressed deeply into the paper.

Cut it out, Daidouji-san. It's hard enough to pay attention as it is. -Syaoran

Is sitting behind Sakura too distracting? Should I switch seats with you? Or would you then be studying her profile? She has beautiful ears, you know. ♥ Tomoyo

I know she's beautiful. Why do you torment me? -Syaoran

Syaoran crumbled the note and threw it away later. At lunch, Sakura turned to Syaoran and said, "I didn't know that you and Tomoyo-chan were such good friends!"

"Me and Daidouji-san?" Syaoran said, obviously surprised.

"You were passing notes during algebra," Sakura replied. Remembering the contents of said notes, Syaoran blushed. Sakura misinterpreted.

"Oh, Li-kun, do you like her?" Sakura said eagerly. "Is that why you were writing notes?" She clapped her hands. "How exciting, my two closest friends!!"

"No, no!" Syaoran insisted hurriedly. "Absolutely not. She asked me... um, about problem eight."

"That one was hard," Sakura said, furrowing her brow in remembrance. Then she smiled and tilted her head to one side. Syaoran was overcome by her simple beauty.

"Are you sure you don't like Tomoyo-chan?" she said.

"I'm positive!"
