The Talk (Syaoran and Tomoyo gen)

Title: The Talk
Fandom: Cardcaptor Sakura
Subject: Li Syaoran and Daidouji Tomoyo
Theme(s): 18. Some advice
Disclaimer: Cardcaptor Sakura belongs to CLAMP.

Summary: Post-canon. Tomoyo talks to Syaoran about "the birds and the bees," as she chooses to phrase it, and Syaoran becomes steadily more uncomfortable.

"Don't do something stupid, Li-kun," Tomoyo said over tea. Since he had simply been trying to stir in his sugar without obnoxiously hitting the spoon against the cup, he was confused.

"Huh?"

Tomoyo did not reply. She stirred her own tea, her spoon whisper-quiet (of course), and sipped.

"Your mom told you about the birds and the bees, correct?"

Her tone was so casual that he had to consider her words twice to make sure he understood.

"Um, sex?" he said, hoping she wouldn't hit him too hard if he was wrong.

"Yes," Tomoyo said, nodding. "You'll want to drink that before it gets cold."

Syaoran had rather lost his appetite for tea and the cakes Tomoyo had provided. He looked down at the nice silverware and back up at Tomoyo again. Her face was serene and betrayed none of her thoughts.

"You invited me to tea to talk about that?"

Tomoyo nodded, sipping her tea again. "You're a boy and Sakura is a girl. Logically..."

Logical or not, Syaoran flushed down to the roots of his hair. "I'm not-- we're not-- I promise--"

"Oh, I know," Tomoyo said. "Sakura would have told me. I just... I want you to be careful when you do, Li-kun."

"'illbe," Syaoran mumbled, incredibly uncomfortable. Tomoyo smiled.

"I don't want you to hurt Sakura," she said. "Please don't."

"I won't," Syaoran said quietly. "I'm going to marry her first."

At that Tomoyo's eyes lit up. "When are you asking her? Soon?"

"Yes," he muttered, annoyed that she'd gotten his secret from him (knowing he would have told her soon anyway, to ask her advice).

"Li-kun, that's amazing! I'm so happy for you!"

Syaoran was pleased to let the conversation drift to other things. He never wanted to discuss his sex life with Tomoyo again.
