my body as an instrument (ST:TNG, Geordi/Data)
Title: my body as an instrument
Fandom: Star Trek: TNG
Length: 250 words
Prompt: comment_fic: Star Trek: TNG, Alwaysagirl!Geordi La Forge/Alwaysagirl!Data, Georgi's hair tends to frizz if she doesn't keep a close eye on it
Pairing: Geordi/Data
Other: AU as per prompt.
Excerpt: Dana smiled. "I always carry a ponytail holder, a handkerchief, hand lotion, and a number of other convenience items." She paused. "Us girls have to stick together."
The third time Geordi huffed and blew a stray lock from her face, Data offered her a ponytail holder. Geordi took it and pulled it through her hair, thankful, and then paused. Data's hair was functionally short, trimmed into a smart bob. Data's hair was never out of place.
"Why did you even have this?" she asked. "Believe me, I'm glad, but you don't need it."
Dana smiled. "I always carry a ponytail holder, a handkerchief, hand lotion, and a number of other convenience items." She paused. "Us girls have to stick together."
Geordi laughed and leaned over to kiss Data's cheek. "That we do, that we do. What would I do without you around?"
"You would have your hair in your eyes, most likely," Data said, but Geordi had stopped listening. She was pointing at a small detail on the screen, and Data leaned forward to consider.
"I think that's the problem!" Geordi said, excited, and Data soon concurred. There was a lot of pulling up panels and digging around in wiring after that, and before the day was over, Geordi had an oil smear on her cheek and an exceptional amount of frizz; the ponytail holder had gotten lost in the confusion.
She didn't mind, now that the day was over and her body ached with the feeling of a job well done. She and Data went back to their quarters to change and relax, and she let Data brush the hair out of her eyes this time.
