[Elementary] art is the struggle to understand (Joan/Moriarty)
Title: art is the struggle to understand
Fandom: Elementary
Length: 100 words
Prompt: comment_fic: Elementary, Joan/Moriarty, work of art
Pairing: Joan/Moriarty
Other: Set post S2.
Excerpt: She knows every inch of Joan's face now, from her high hairline to her sculpted cheekbones. She would feel better if she could get the eyes quite right.
Joan's eyes follow Moriarty around the room. There is little else to look at in the dismal warehouse. Jamie is quite good at waiting, but that does not mean she enjoys it. The painting helps to swallow up the burning chunks of time.

It will be better when Joan smiles back, anyway, that careful pressed lip look of fear and excitement. That's what Jamie really wants: that acknowledgment.
She will have it.
