As it turns out, Briar is a dancer; his refusal to sing is unimportant once Rosethorn sees him sliding across the choir room floor. She drags him to Glee practice the next day, practically by the ear, and when she tells the group of his talent Sandry claps her hands and beams.

"Just what we needed! Maybe you can help Tris find her feet," she says, and that Tris's scowl passes right over her head. Daja doesn't bother to roll her eyes at Sandry's suggestion. Sandry is always forgetting that the rest of them hadn't been raised to sing and dance since birth, but she's so infuriatingly nice about it that Daja is reluctant to mention it.

"Do I have to?" Briar whines. "They're just all girls."

Rosethorn's eyebrow twitches. Lark laughs.

"Come on now," Lark says, "let's show Briar what us girls have got."

She nods at the pianist and he plays the opening notes to the song they've been practicing all week. Daja lifts her voice in the opening lyrics, and it isn't long until Briar is improvising steps beside them. He is good, and they'll need that talent for Sectionals.
