[Glee] sharpie dinosaurs (Puck and Finn gen)
Title: sharpie dinosaurs
Fandom: Glee
Length: 364 words
Prompt: fic_promptly: Glee, Finn Hudson and Noah Puckerman, they know what it's like to wear the same shoes year after year because you can't afford new ones.
Pairing: Finn and Puck gen
Other: n/a
Excerpt: Puck was the only other guy that Finn knew who duct-taped his shoes together. He claimed it was way cooler than buying new ones every year. He wrote on his duct-tape with permanent marker, although Ms. Johnson always made him cover up the bad words.

Finn knew that duct-tape shoes weren't that great, really. For one, his feet were growing like weeds, his mom said, and small shoes pinched a lot. Plus, they didn't really keep out the water when you jumped in puddles, which Finn liked doing.
He was sitting on the edge of the blacktop, trying to get the tape to re-stick, when he first had a real conversation with Puck. A shadow loomed over him, and Puck thrust a roll of tape at him, and then the Sharpie. The tape was red. Finn had never seen red duct tape before. It was kinda cool.
Puck sat down beside him, casually. "Your shoes need a dose of cool," he said. "Your monster feet are breaking out. You should draw a dinosaur on them or something. I have Puckasaurus Rex." He pointed out a big-headed reptile on his own toes, which looked a lot like a Tyrannosaurus to Finn, but he wasn't going to complain. He ripped off a piece of tape.
"Where'd you get this stuff?" he asked, wondering.
"Ripped off a hardware store," Puck said casually, drumming his feet on the ground. A kid ran by and he stuck his foot out, nearly tripping the other boy. Finn laughed. He started working on his dinosaur, which was totally harder than he'd expected. His wasn't any better than Puck's.
"It's a Finnraptor!" he announced. Puck took a look, and after a moment, nodded curtly in approval.
"Let's go play soccer," he said, getting up and yanking Finn to his feet, and from that moment, they were friends. Even when the Sharpie leaked in Finn's pocket and ruined his blue jeans, he wouldn't tell where he got it.
Puck understood. That was important, even if he'd never actually say anything about it. So when he finally got a new pair of shoes for his birthday, he put the tape on before he got any holes in them.
