[Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle] fall in like (Nokoru/Tomoyo)

Title: fall in like
Fandom: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
Length: 866 words
Prompt: [livejournal.com profile] clampkink: TRC, Piffle Nokoru/Tomoyo, friendly sex.
Pairing: Nokoru/Tomoyo; Tomoyo/Sakura
Other: PG-13 for sex.

Excerpt: Nokoru has been charming women since he knew how to talk. Tomoyo has never fallen for it. She laughs behind her hand and they talk about everything but business, because they respect each other more than that. When they do talk about the company, it is at work, and not in her bedroom with their heads inclined together; they always look like children sharing secrets. Their smiles match.

Nokoru knows a lot of things about Tomoyo - he knows her better than anyone, he thinks, better than her parents and her friends and the string of broken hearts she leaves behind her. He's always been her best friend, even since they were four and he gallantly rescued her teddy bear from a puddle.

Nokoru has been charming women since he knew how to talk. Tomoyo has never fallen for it. She laughs behind her hand and they talk about everything but business, because they respect each other more than that. When they do talk about the company, it is at work, and not in her bedroom with their heads inclined together; they always look like children sharing secrets. Their smiles match.

They are best friends, and their companies are rivals. The media believe that they'll marry someday and create an empire - in fact, there are laws passing through the legislature at the moment in an attempt to forestall that. Tomoyo giggles, Nokoru fans himself politely, and they let the people think what they'd like. They'd shared first crushes when they were seven: Sayaka Okiura, their first-form teacher. Tomoyo has always known she was gay.

That hasn't stopped a certain amount of experimentation and honest affection, of course. Nokoru wanted to know how to properly treat a lady, and Tomoyo was willing to teach him. Their friendship has a physical component to it, but it isn't a romantic relationship. They're both happy with that.

Nokoru is the first person whom she tells about her dream, and when Sakura arrives, he can see the sparkle in Tomoyo's eyes. This is the girl: this is the one. He won't be jealous because Tomoyo is just so happy. In fact, now that he's seen her he has set his people out on an all-points bulletin. According to the Princess Tomoyo, there are many versions of the same person across the world. If this world has a Sakura in it that his Tomoyo hasn't met, he wants to find her.

When Sakura is successful, they all have to celebrate. Tomoyo gleams on Nokoru's arm and hangs on Sakura's and they all drink way too much. And because he's seen the way that Syaoran looks at Sakura, and Tomoyo has seen it too, Nokoru is the one that Tomoyo drags off to a private room.

"She is so happy," Tomoyo says as she removes her stockings and unpins her hair. Nokoru strokes a hand through it. "Perhaps you could give Syaoran-kun some tips on confessing, though, Nokoru?"

He laughs low in his throat. "I think an awkward, unrehearsed confession will be better for both of them," he answers. "First love is prettiest that way." He unbuttons his shirt and she traces her hands across his chest, helping him take it off. He hangs it carefully on a chair so it won't wrinkle.

"Oh, you and love," she says, and the corner of her mouth turns up. She kisses his shoulder and he squeezes her hand affectionately before helping her out of her bra - in a very gentlemanly manner, he might add.

Sex with Tomoyo is comfortable and easy. He knows how to curl his fingers into her and all of the places on her hip and neck to kiss her. They laugh and talk and pause in the middle, and sometimes the only indication of mid-coitus is their nakedness. They'd tried penetration a few times, but it is much easier for Tomoyo to get off when he uses his hands, and even if this is just for fun, Nokoru still wants to please her. Her hand on him is firm in return, and she's quite good at this even if it's not what she finds attractive.

They don't stray for too long. Fai has informed them, with a theatrical wink, that Sakura is the most adorable of drunks, and Tomoyo wants to drink her face in as much as possible. Princess Tomoyo said that the group wouldn't stay for long, so she'll treasure the time they have.

After they finish, Nokoru kisses her forehead and she kisses his cheek, and he helps her clean up and get back into her dress. He gives her five minutes before he follows, because even though there are rumors, there is no need to provoke a scandal. They've been in the press extensively for the race, after all. Over-saturation could be a problem.

The little blush on her face that she wears while talking to Sakura is a blush he's placed there, and the warmth low in her stomach. It's a comfortable feeling, and she's glad to have taken this time with him. He is her best friend, after all.

(The next week, a machinist's daughter from the other side of the country walks into the grand entrance of the Piffle corporation. She quirks her head to one side, uncertainly, but Tomoyo rushes to her side, takes her hands, and the green-eyed girl smiles back.

Nokoru grins behind his fan, feeling triumphant. Anything for a lady.)
