[Cardcaptor Sakura] Work to Live (Eriol/Tomoyo)

Title: Work to Live
Fandom: Cardcaptor Sakura
Length: 332
Prompt: Domesticity fic: Eriol/Tomoyo from CCS, to fall asleep in the middle of work for [livejournal.com profile] sheila_chan
Pairing: Eriol/Tomoyo established
Other: n/a

Excerpt: Oftentimes they would sit on the couch next to each other, she tapping on her laptop as he read a book, and they would rest in comfortable silence, just basking in each other's presence.

Being a CEO was a full-time job, and Tomoyo wouldn't settle for only that. She was also a clothing designer for Daidouji Toys's most popular doll, Creature-Capturing Sakuya, who came with five different outfits and the possibility of many, many more. Tomoyo put in a new design every couple of weeks without fail, her employees marveling at her creativity.

She tried not to overwork herself, remembering long evenings, long weeks when she didn't see her mother. She'd been raised mostly by the maids, and though they were very nice people, it wasn't the same. So she made sure to make date night every Saturday, and she tried to be home by eight otherwise.

Of course, that meant that sometimes her work drifted home with her, but Eriol was always respectful of her needs and her space. Oftentimes they would sit on the couch next to each other, she tapping on her laptop as he read a book, and they would rest in comfortable silence, just basking in each other's presence.

This day, she hadn't even realized that she'd drifted off to sleep, because it had happened so gradually. She felt his hands on hers, gentle, as he took the laptop and coaxed it into hibernation, and then after a moment, there was the warmth of a blanket spread over her. His fingers brushed her cheek and she could hardly muster the awareness to mumble something affectionate.

"I'll wake you for dinner," he said, brushing hair out of her face, but instead of getting up and heading to the kitchen, he continued stroking her hair until her breathing evened out. He stood, careful not to disturb her, and smiled down at her softly. She worked too hard, he sometimes thought, but she'd take a break if he advised her to. They trusted each other like that.

He headed for the kitchen, already casting the few soft spells that would allow her to nap in silence, undisturbed by the sounds of his cooking, and Tomoyo Hiiragizawa drifted into dreamland.
