[Cardcaptor Sakura] Worldly Child (Touya/Kaho)

Title: Worldly Child
Fandom: Cardcaptor Sakura
Length: 350 words
Prompt: Icon prompt for [livejournal.com profile] mellowcandle.
Pairing: Touya/Kaho established
Other: Mayu's name and existence are both L-chan's idea; I just borrowed them for a bit.

Excerpt: There was a knock on the door, and then a thump and maybe the beginning of an argument between a rumbly-voiced lion and his mistress. Touya whispered something in Mayu's ear, and her eyes grew wide.

It had been almost two years since Kaho had been back to Japan, and children have short memories, so she wasn't exactly surprised when her daughter hid behind her skirts as she rang the bell. She smiled down at the girl briefly in reassurance before the door opened to reveal Fujitaka's smiling face.

"Kaho-san, it is lovely to see you again," he said, his tone polite but warm. He moved out of the way so she could step into the house. The little girl followed close behind, her dark eyes wide with interest. She was silent, though Kaho was certain that her daughter knew enough Japanese to understand the polite conversation that she had with Fujitaka as they stepped into the living room. She was convinced to mutter her age to Fujitaka, and her grade level.

She didn't light up at all until the door opened and shut again and Touya called out.

"We're in the living room," Fujitaka answered, but as soon as Touya appeared in the doorway, Mayu was up and running. She wrapped herself around his legs and Touya chuckled, leaning down to pick her up. She was really getting too big for that, but he stifled his grunt and joined his wife on the couch.

"Daddy's girl," Fujitaka observed. Touya stroked his daughter's hair and grinned.

"Say it to Grandpa," he coached her.

In careful but clean Japanese, she said, "Hello, my name is Mayu Kinomoto and I'm from England. I love my parents very much."

"I can tell," Fujitaka responded, and Mayu smiled back.

There was a knock on the door, and then a thump and maybe the beginning of an argument between a rumbly-voiced lion and his mistress. Touya whispered something in Mayu's ear, and her eyes grew wide.

"Really?" she said. He nodded, and she slipped off his knee and darted down the hall.

"I want to meet the plush toy!" she shouted, excited. Kaho gave Touya a significant glance before she giggled and rose to greet the rest of the family.
