Clare lived waiting, breathed waiting, said the word "waiting" until it retained no meaning anymore, just the heavy emptiness of no Henry. He'd been cruel to her-- was always cruel to her, she thought, coming and going, because even if it wasn't intentional it hurt so badly to have him gone-- and now she only had a thought a possibility a maybe she'd see him again, when she was old and grey, when Alba was grown and gone and her life was ending. But perhaps that was the appropriate thing, since he had bled the end of his life into her arms, that he would come and take her hand and say hello, one more time, before her future stopped.
