Excerpt: Mrs. Frizzle has lists. Her adventures may seem spontaneous, only limited by the abilities of the bus, but she plans them just like any teacher keeps lesson plans.
Mrs. Frizzle has lists. Her adventures may seem spontaneous, only limited by the abilities of the bus, but she plans them just like any teacher keeps lesson plans. (The normal ones go to the principal - "anatomy this week, space next," without saying that there's a certain grandeur in going from very small to very large, and that she plans to take them from the eye of a student to the eye of the sun. There's no permission form for destinations like these.)
She and the Bus have an understanding. It always gets her out of difficult situations, and she makes sure to top the gas off before adventures. As long as they have transportation, she doesn't hesitate to go further. There's no better way for children to learn.
Always wear sensible shoes: that's her rule. You never know who or what you might be stepping in. Trust your instincts, trust the kids - they're a lot smarter than most adults give them credit for.
She doesn't think of herself as strange. Every teacher has a little magic to make molding minds easier. Hers is just a particularly hands-on method.
