As Ciel only liked her on a good day, and had no illusions that he would live long enough to marry or procreate, most of her fantasies were ignored.
"Ciel, you're going to make our children grumpy!" she burst out one day when he was sulking over tea. He had a case to solve and no time to waste on pleasantries, but she'd been planning this visit for a month and Sebastian insisted he should take some time to be nice to his fiancee. Sebastian was tracking down a lead, but Ciel wanted to be out there with him, not stuck here playing house with a juvenile.
"What in the world are you talking about, Elizabeth?" he snapped back, not bothering to hide his irritation; after all, he hadn't been before.
"We're going to have a girl and a boy and she'll have little blonde curls and the boy-- he'll just scowl all the time." She attempted to demonstrate, her lower lip quivering.
"You don't know that," he answered coldly. "We might have just one child, or none at all. And temperment is not inherited."
"Ciel!" Lizzie wailed. She dropped her head into her arms and began to sob. Ciel watched her for a long moment before he sighed, got up from his chair, and went around to her side of the table. He patted her shoulder uncomfortably; she turned and buried her face in his stomach. This was all very improper and made Ciel uncomfortable, but no one was around, so he put up with it for a few minutes before squirming free.
"As long as he's as nice as you to his mother," Lizzie said softly. Ciel pushed his handkerchief into her hand.
"I'm going to go call Sebastian," he said abruptly, turning on his heel and striding away.
Lizzie smiled, just a little. They'd have great kids, she thought. She couldn't wait until she was Mrs. Ciel Phantomhive, wife and mother.
Even if her babies scowled, she'd be happy.
