Summary: Eriol provokes Syaoran because it's so easy, but once in a while he throws him a bone.

"Why so down in the dumps, Li-kun?"

His voice is an unwelcome interruption to my misery and I look up and glare at Eriol's ever-smiling face.

"Did Sakura reject your suit and run away to join the circus?"

"What are you, mad?" I snapped, getting to my feet.

"We're all mad here," he said serenely, and I wanted to kick him just to see that smile drop from his face. He was calm and friendly to Sakura. He had no problem talking to her and courting her and teasing me until I wanted to punch him.

I had this horrible feeling that I wasn't as good as him, that he was just waiting for me to leave so he could swoop in and take her from me. That was why I'd stayed, beyond these new magical incidents. While I was here, I didn't have to imagine her in his arms. I didn't have to cry in Hong Kong by myself.

Though if things kept going like ever-squealing Daidouj seemed to think, I wouldn't have to imagine it. It would be real.

"Leave me alone, Hiiragizawa-kun," I said venomously, and turned to walk away. He was unfazed by my anger.

"Sakura is leaving now. If you hurry, you can catch up to her," he said. What now, he was some kind of demented Cupid?

I shot a glare over my shoulder and kept walking, but I threw dignity aside as I rounded the corner and ran to catch her.
