It had become a tradition between the two of them. Sakura's boyfriend was in Hong Kong, and Tomoyo never seemed to have one, so the girls spent Christmas together. The weeks beforehand were spent in as much anticipation as if they truly were one another's dates; they laughed and planned and Tomoyo, as always, sewed.

"Tomoyo-chan, isn't this a little fancy?" Sakura protested faintly, looking down at the frilly dress that her friend had provided. Tomoyo just smiled, adjusting a hem.

"I don't get to dress to dress you up anymore!" she answered, hand on her cheek. "I must take every opportunity!"

They were beautifully attired, then, when they took a nice meal at Tomoyo's house, and then went for a walk, well-bundled against the cold. They weren't the only people on the streets; others had come out to admire the clear night. Tomoyo reached out and took Sakura's hand. Sakura squeezed back.

"Isn't it nice, Tomoyo-chan," she asked, "to see all the people in love?" She had a soft look in her eyes, the one that meant she was thinking of Syaoran, and Tomoyo smiled to see it. It was a sweet expression, even if it wasn't meant for her.

"It's wonderful," she answered, and they walked in a comfortable silence for a few more minutes, until Tomoyo started to hum. It was a song she'd sung recently in choir, and Sakura recognized it.

"Oh, do sing!" she said brightly, lifting their entwined hands. Tomoyo nodded. She leaned in close to Sakura, so as not to disturb the other people walking, and sang.

"Joy to the world..."

And Sakura smiled.
