Filial Devotion (Watanuki gen)
Title: Filial Devotion
Fandom: xxxHOLiC
Length: 180 words
Prompt:
writing_game Week 64: NE+2, Things Become Extinct; NE+2, What I Did for Love
Pairing: Watanuki gen
Other: Spoilers for ch184-6.
Excerpt: He still felt angry about it, the choice made by someone else. There was no undoing it, only twisting it around.
He'd been pulled from his bed to make chocolate at midnight. He'd searched high and low for foods out of season. He'd done services for a rain spirit, traveled the Aurora Path, argued with a lightning god, and nearly gotten killed several times, not to mention had to deal with Doumeki on what had become a daily basis.
He'd do it all again if it would bring her back. He still felt angry about it, the choice made by someone else. There was no undoing it, only twisting it around. So that was what he had done.
He couldn't do it all again; he couldn't turn back time. But he would take what little time he had and offer it up in exchange for getting to see her again.
The shop was all that remained to him, the only world he knew. So it was the world he chose, and for once in his life, he could be patient.
Hitsuzen. They would meet again. He believed, and he would wait.
Time was such a precious thing.
