To Repeat a Familiar Mistake (Clow/Yuuko)
Title: To Repeat a Familiar Mistake
Fandom: xxxHOLiC
Length: 294 words
Prompt: see lyric prompt below the cut
Pairing: Clow/Yuuko
Other: Tenth in a series; table of contents.
Excerpt: For the first time in... a long time (since her de since then) she'd reached out for him, instead of submitting to his touch.
Clow looked away from her, his eyes on the little meatbuns they had made, who were tearing around the yard as if they'd never have an opportunity to see the grass again. That wasn't unusual, but it never failed to make him smile.
Yuuko reached for and caught his sleeve, feeling the familiar cool silk in her fingers. He smiled a little, surprised, and she blinked. For the first time in... a long time (since her de since then) she'd reached out for him, instead of submitting to his touch.
I'm falling in love with him again, she realized, the thought trailing into her mind without warning, the traitor. The smile on his lips widened just a little. She scowled at her hand and let him go. His hand crept up to cradle her waist. After a moment, she relaxed into his touch.
He was something in her life she could never begin to control, no matter how she tried. That was a lesson she learned over and over again.
He purred something softly into her ear.
"What?" she asked, attempting to maintain the same umbrella of irritation she'd been bearing all this time. (The problem was, he was standing too close, he was under her umbrella, and she wasn't sappy enough to scratch out their initials but the potential was there and he held it in his hands.)
"You're just as lovely as you were before," he repeated, daring a soft nibble on her earlobe.
She wanted to smack him; she wanted to lift her neck and let his soft hands slide down the curve of her back. Anger and desire burned as one, but underneath there bubbled something like happiness.
"Necrophiliac," she purred, and was gratified by his scandalized expression.

But of all the things I shouldn't do
Number one is loving you
There's a fatal charm in your arms
