Completed (Rachel gen)
Title: Completed
Fandom: Animorphs
Length: 139 words
Prompt:
writing_game: Accident & Emergency and Underworld. +2
Pairing: Rachel gen
Other: afterlife-fic
Excerpt: If she'd had any emotion left, it would be the twisted pride she had carried around with her for the whole war.
Really, if she'd ever paused to think about it, she would have thought dying would have been worse. It was quick. It was awful, but it was done.
She couldn't really be too depressed about it, either. Emotions were a habit of glands and nerve cells, and she had neither, not any more. She knew Jake would beat himself up over this, but she had done the job. No one could say she didn't.
If she'd had any emotion left, it would be the twisted pride she had carried around with her for the whole war.
She wasn't sure what she believed anymore, about gods and death and the afterlife. She'd seen too many strange things. She suspected it didn't matter what she believed, anyway. What mattered was what happened.
Rachel shut her eyes, and waited.
