Excerpt: "Come closer," the woman purred, and Konoka did, without thinking.
Wolves were beautiful creatures, if you weren't faced by an wild one. This was a truth that Konoka understood, instinctively, when she wandered into the shop and came face to face with the dark-haired woman lounging on the divan and grinning ferally.
"You have a wish," the dark-haired woman said. Konoka bit her lip. It wasn't a question. The woman knew. Maybe not a wolf, but a spider? Did she, perhaps, eat wishes? Did she eat people? All Konoka knew was that this shop hadn't been here yesterday, she was sure of that, and yet, and yet...
"Come closer," the woman purred, and Konoka did, without thinking. She looked down into the woman's bright eyes and opened her mouth to speak, to tell everything. The woman would understand. The woman would fix her problem. She could do anything.
And so Konoka whirled and fled. The door slammed behind her and Yuuko laughed.
"Smart girl," she said to the smoke in the air, and stretched like a cat.
