Why Did the Chicken (Luke gen)
Title: Why Did the Chicken
Length: 316 words
Prompt: Professor Layton (Anon) Fan Meme: Legal learning how to drive in the Laytonmobile (with Layton as his teacher, of course). Hilarity ensues!
Pairing: Luke gen
Other: n/a
Excerpt: "Slow. Down," Layton bit, peeking through his fingertips. Luke obliged, slamming the brake and listening to the Laytonmobile screech to a crawl, and then a stop.
The Laytonmobile was not going to get him any girls.
Of course, the professor would say that he didn't need any, but Luke was beginning to think about taking up another hobby. Layton had puzzles and archaeology. Luke had puzzles and skirts.
It was probably part of his base character that Layton wouldn't approve of, but as long as he didn't chase after Flora, the professor probably wouldn't protest too much.
Still, a car was a car. Maybe Layton would be hesitant to let him date, but there was always the chance that he would meet a wonderful girl on the side of the road with a turned ankle. It could happen.
If he ever learned how to drive, anyway. It certainly wasn't as easy as it looked. And not for his passenger, if the way that Layton covered his eyes with disturbing frequency was an indicator.
"Slow. Down," Layton bit, peeking through his fingertips. Luke obliged, slamming the brake and listening to the Laytonmobile screech to a crawl, and then a stop.
"M-moderation," Layton shuddered. He reached up to toy with the brim of his hat, and when Luke jerked the car forward again, he held so tight to the hat that Luke could hear threads ripping.
It felt sort of like an insult, really. Luke frowned and tried to find a moderate speed.
"CAT!" Layton yelled, reaching for the wheel, and Luke smashed the brake again. The cat strode across the road without a care, unharmed.
"I think I'm getting good at this, Professor," Luke said cheerily as the cat made its escape. "Maybe I could drive by myself next time?"
Layton's eyes boggled and Luke tried not to laugh. He knew that it wasn't the proper time for that, not yet, but he loved seeing the professor's expressions during his driving lessons.
One of these days he'd be good enough at it to pick up girls. Until then, he could at least entertain himself.
