Because she could talk to Mia most anytime she wanted, sometimes Maya almost forgot she was dead. Her sister had died, but she was still here. It was sort of like a long-distance relationship. And honestly, it sort of sucked that she couldn't talk to Mia when she possessed her, but that was even more proof of her presence. It wasn't every ghost that could channel so well.

So sometimes, she just came to a screeching halt, realizing that she'd never honestly see Mia in the flesh again. This was one of those times. She ran her hands through her hair again in slight irritation.

Mia had always fixed her hair specially when she went on dates. When Mia went on dates, that is. She'd spend most of the day working on herself, humming cheerfully, but she always took a little bit of time to braid Maya's hair and tell her she looked beautiful.

"One of these days I'll be helping you get ready for dates," she'd say, giggling when Maya expressed her distaste for boys. "Sooner than you'd think," she just laughed.

And here Maya was, on the eve of that very special first date, and she had no sister to fix her hair. So of course it was being a pain.

She scowled at the mirror one more time, sighed, and then headed downstairs. This was just something else she was going to have to do alone.

But Feys were strong like that. She could do it.
