Friends Are For (Sakura & Yuuko gen)
Title: Friends Are For
Length: 214 words
Fandom: Cardcaptor Sakura/xxxHOLiC (/Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle)
Pairing/characters: Sakura and Yuuko gen
Rating: G
Warnings: Tsubasa spoilers
Prompt/challenge you're answering: no_true_pair: Sakura and Yuuko -- I've traveled the world and the seven seas / everybody's looking for something
Excerpt: But she kept coming back to take tea with Yuuko and talk about high school, pulling Yuuko out of the shop, into the world.
There really was no reason she could see the shop. There was no aura of a wish around her-- just utter contentment. She had friends, she had family, she had love, she had no addictions and no problems.
Sakura was happy.
But she kept coming back to take tea with Yuuko and talk about high school, pulling Yuuko out of the shop, into the world. She learned about Yamazaki and Chiharu's constantly uncertain relationship, every date she had with Syaoran, the letters she received from a certain dark-haired magician that Yuuko pretended not to know. She befriended Maru and Moro and brought food when she could.
And she was happy, so much so that it was contagious, and Yuuko always grinned more after Sakura had visited. It wasn't so bad to have a friend, to have someone who didn't need something from her.
But it was inevitable, wasn't it? One day Sakura came with something dark in her eyes, and her smile was oddly sober. She handed Yuuko the gingersnaps she had promised and sat down at the table in silence, sipping the tea Yuuko had already poured.
"I've been having these dreams," she began quietly, and Yuuko reached out to touch her hand in sympathy, nodding.
Everyone had a wish, after all.
