Excerpt: "Who do you think you are, Meiling?" Clow asked, reaching down and catching her by the chin, and she resisted the urge to pull away, because this was Clow and whatever he wanted was surely important.
After Syaoran's son was born, Meiling began to dream.
She'd been told all her life that she had no magic, forced to concede the fact at every turn. But these visions, they were something special.
Clow was in them. She knew what he looked like from Sakura's descriptions and old sketches, a tall man with little round glasses and a constant smile.
"Who do you think you are, Meiling?" Clow asked, reaching down and catching her by the chin, and she resisted the urge to pull away, because this was Clow and whatever he wanted was surely important.
"I'm a Li," she said, looking into his dark eyes and seeing the past, seeing the future, seeing... little Syaoran somehow, or maybe it was his son, and she didn't know what to do with that. She gulped and Clow let go of her, turning his back to her. She studied the symbols on the back of his cloak until he spoke again.
"I need you to do something for me," he said, and she nodded eagerly.
It wasn't her fault that no one had ever described Fei Wong Reed to her before, ever mentioned their physical similarities. By the time they realized, it was too late.
