Excerpt: She saw Clow Princess Sakura and it broke her heart to see her losses, but she couldn't love that Sakura.

1. Eriol

At first she was curious, since his treatment of Sakura was absurd at best, over-the-top flirting coupled with a familial smile. Then she was angry, when she found out what he'd been up to, though only for a little while. It had to be done. She never managed to fall in love with him though: had never been the type to swoon over a teacher or someone's older brother, and Eriol was much older than he looked (if 's half-reincarnate, at least 40). Besides, she had Sakura, and whether she had her in the literal sense or not, it was enough to fill Tomoyo's heart forever.

2. Syaoran

She never fell in love with Syaoran, though she could have-- she knew she could have found something in those amber eyes to treasure. He was a precious thing really, in his innocence (when did hers disappear? long before she could remember, burned in the fire of first adoration). But Syaoran belonged to Sakura, from the first moment he appeared, and Tomoyo was pleased to step aside and let that be-- no crazy shoujo love triangles here, thank you.

3. Touya

For a while she considered the fact that he had sweet Sakura's ears, that he loved Sakura as fiercely as she did, but the thought came and went. He was a man after all, tall and imposing and alien (she rarely saw her father, how did a man act, after all?), and she loved a girl, and his sister. It was something she could never tell him, even though he already knew.

4. the other Sakura

She dreamed a lot after her Sakura died. She dreamed so much and so hard that she fell into the dreams of the other Tomoyo's stretched across the parallels, the Tomoyo who was a princess, the Tomoyo who sponsored races... She saw Clow Princess Sakura and it broke her heart to see her losses, but she couldn't love that Sakura. That Sakura had never had her own Tomoyo before, but now she had several in each of the worlds, and Tomoyo just couldn't fall in love again, because she did wake once in a while and the pain tore at her like wolves.

She prayed that the other Sakura lived. But she didn't love her.

5. Tomoyo

And she didn't fall in love with herself, either, like many talented people do. Tomoyo barely noticed that she excelled, actually, treasuring compliments as though they were each the only congratulations she would receive. She never fell in love with herself, and that's why so many people fell in love with her.
