The Secret Places of Lovers (Touya/Kaho)
Title: The Secret Places of Lovers
Length: 246 words
Prompt: music meme: Keane's Somewhere Only We Know for
sheila_chan
Pairing: Touya/Kaho; Touya/Yukito
Other: n/a
Excerpt: "Touya," she said to me, "come with me."
And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
-Somewhere Only We Know, Keane
"Touya," she said to me, "come with me."
That was the way it started and the way it ended, but we're not at the ending yet, we're still at the beginning, and we're enjoying this dream.
She leads me around all the secret places in the shrine and we kiss on the corners and in-between tiles and her lips are soft and real and this is forever, right, right?
"Come with me," Kaho said, and I could never resist her call, beginnings and ends and middles and if this isn't forever I will never love again.
And when the dream ends I find out it isn't forever, that love ends but not sharply, like a straight cut; messily like an old log carefully chopped into firewood. And I'd seen her most secret places and I'd heard her secret laugh, but there would be someone else she would guide into her heart. And this could be the end of everything.
"It's good to see you again," she said, and I looked into eyes I no longer really knew and thought about Yukito and the treasures of one's heart and the secret place we'd carved out for ourselves in his lonely house.
"It's good to see you too," I said, and this time it was a chop, a clean cut, a smile. There is a little veil between us, her heart is no longer mine. And it was the end of all of that, but that was okay.
She waved goodbye.
