Glimpse (Edward/Usagi)

Title: Glimpse
Crossover: Twilight
Length: 243 words
Prompt: Edward/Usagi for someone I've forgotten (XD sorry)
Pairing: slight Edward/Usagi; Edward/Bella, Mamoru/Usagi
Other: n/a
Excerpt: His grip was sure, and more than sure-- hard. Like rock. And his hands were impossibly cold. He wasn't from around here-- his skin was too pale and pink to be Japanese, and his oddly golden eyes proved my point. His accent was pretty good, though.

"Daijobu ka?" he asked, and I blinked twice before my brain had processed. I looked up at the man who had caught me-- I'd tripped on a stray rock and nearly fell into the street, so sure I was breathing my last breath that I had started crying-- but he'd caught me.

His grip was sure, and more than sure-- hard. Like rock. And his hands were impossibly cold. He wasn't from around here-- his skin was too pale and pink to be Japanese, and his oddly golden eyes proved my point. His accent was pretty good, though.

"I'm fine," I said breathlessly, unable to stop looking at him. There was something so completely perfect in him, and yet--

There was something very different. A little darker. I wasn't sure exactly what it is, but I'd learned to trust these hunches.

He was beautiful, but not quite... safe. And I hadn't even seen him move.

"Edward? Edward?"

We both turned, Edward smoothly releasing my arm, and I saw her-- a petite beauty with the same pale skin, likely the same cold hands. Whatever he was, she was too. And she was as beautiful as he was.

"Here I am, darling," he said in English, and when she smiled, their world dissolved down to them two, alone, and I was forgotten.

I slipped away then, to meet Mamoru, a tiny twinge of regret in my heart, and for the rest of the way I was careful to watch so I didn't trip.
