Excerpt: "They're coming back soon," she says after a long moment. "I hope we're ready."

"Double or nothing," Yuuko breathes in his ear, and Watanuki isn't sure what she means, or that he even wants to know. The conversation today has been an unusual one in any case, filled with sideways entendres and strange implications.

"Would you learn the meaning of personal space?" he yells, in lieu of asking questions that he doesn't really want the answers to.

"You have none," Yuuko purrs, walking away anyway and standing in the doorway to the kitchen, just staring at him. The hair on the back of Watanuki's neck prickles.

"What?" he asks.

"They're coming back soon," she says after a long moment. "I hope we're ready." She turns to leave the room.

"For what?" he inquires desperately.

"To play the game, of course," she trills, and that is the most coherent thing he gets from her for the rest of the night.
