Excerpt: A week later when the two of them were waiting for Sakura again, Syaoran tried to get Tomoyo to explain her plans. Tomoyo continued sewing on the pink, frilly thing that she had been constructing for the past week without explanation.
"In Japan," Tomoyo said, "Christmas is for lovers." She had a certain glint in her eye that Syaoran had begun dreading. He gulped and tried not to panic. Since his return to Japan, he had been determined to be the best boyfriend he possibly could be, and Tomoyo did her best, behind the scenes, to make sure that her dear Sakura-chan was happy.
"What does that mean?" Syaoran asked, noting that his voice had become gruff with panic anyway. Tomoyo smiled and cocked her head to one side. After a moment, her smile deepened into a grin and she clapped her hands.
"I'll arrange it. Leave it to me!" she said, and though Syaoran had a million more questions, Sakura ran up to meet the two of them, still breathing hard from cheerleading practice. She took Syaoran's hand in her left, and Tomoyo's in her right, and the three of them went to Sakura's house together.

A week later when the two of them were waiting for Sakura again, Syaoran tried to get Tomoyo to explain her plans. Tomoyo continued sewing on the pink, frilly thing that she had been constructing for the past week without explanation.
"Just get her to meet you Christmas morning in the park," she said, pulling out a difficult stitch and trying again. "I'll give you the details next week."
Syaoran hesitated and was about to ask her for a bit more clarification, but Yukito rode by on his bicycle and the three of them chatted for a bit before Sakura came out of practice. She hugged Yukito, Tomoyo, and Syaoran before Yukito offered her a ride home, and she hopped on the back of the bicycle, waving cheerily.
Syaoran looked at Tomoyo. Tomoyo smiled and began to pack up her sewing, so Syaoran went home.

A week later, Tomoyo pressed a carefully folded note into Syaoran's hands. He unfolded it and spent the next ten minutes reading it, occasionally glancing up at Tomoyo, who was sewing more lace onto the pink, lacy thing and frowning on occasion, but only when a stitch went awry.
"All of this?" he said when he finished, voice hoarse.
"Christmas is for lovers," Tomoyo repeated.
"Are you going to film us?" he asked next, but her answer was drowned out when a sedan pulled up to the curb and a woman wearing sunglasses rolled down the side window.
"Tomoyo-san?" the bodyguard said deferentially, and Tomoyo nodded.
"Tell Sakura goodbye for me, Li-kun," she said cheerfully, and got into the car.
"Okay," he said, for lack of anything better to say, and he read the note again until Sakura came. He told her Tomoyo's goodbye and she kissed him on the cheek before they walked to her house, hand in hand.

"That was a wonderful date, Syaoran-kun," Sakura whispered into his shoulder, pausing on the corner near her home. She reached up and adjusted the scarf around his neck, smiling to see his blush.
"Thank you," she said, leaning up on her toes to give him a kiss, and they were silent for a moment, brushing lips. The snow on the ground crunched a little as she leaned into his embrace.
"I didn't... I didn't arrange all this," he admitted quietly, in her ear, and she kissed him again, more firmly.
"I know," she said, touching his nose with her index finger, "but you're here with me. That's the important part."
His look of utter surprise made her laugh, and her laugh made him chuckle-- it always did. He wrapped his arms around her then and after a moment spoke.
"Merry Christmas, Sakura-chan."
"Merry Christmas, Syaoran-kun," she said, and for that moment he really felt like he was the best boyfriend ever.
