"What are you wearing?" Leon asked, disgust dripping from every syllable, but D was nothing if not used to the policeman's narrow mind towards fashion. He waved a hand at him, already turning back from the door towards the tea kettle.
"It's a costume," he said. "It's Halloween, isn't it?"
"Well, yeah, but you're a grown man. Isn't that sort of creepy?"
D reached the stove and began a search for clean cups, pulling three from the cabinet.
"Chris has the Halloween spirit, I see," he said gently. The mute boy standing half behind his brother was clothed in all black with a dark mask that had pointed ears. "Batman's pretty good at staying silent."
Chris nodded, smiling shyly, and adjusted the mask. Leon frowned, moving a bit to stand in front of the boy.
"There's something weird going on and I want to know what you think about this," he began. Just another interview with the creepy Chinese man, another case, another day.
"Don't you want your tea first?" D said, vamping towards Leon in a disturbing way. His fake breasts brushed Leon's arm when he offered him the tea, and Leon prickled.
"You're creepy," he declared, taking Chris by the arm and dragging him back towards the door. Chris waved sadly at T-chan, who'd emerged from his doze on the couch to see what all the noise was about.
"We'll come back after Halloween," he growled, "when you're... more normal."
D tossed his hair. There was rather a lot more than usual, given the long black wig. He put a hand on his hip and winked at Chris conspiratorially.
"Does this dress make me look fat?" he asked.
The door slammed behind the two blondes.
