Except: "I'm not wearing it," he said again, his face red at the simple thought. "I don't care how well it matches or how adorable you think it is. It has ruffled sleeves."

Tomoyo had always delighted in dressing Sakura up in costumes, even since she'd picked up a needle and taught herself to sew. It was, in retrospect, unsurprising, that she would soon turn her talents on Li Syaoran. He wasn't exactly a willing victim, but he was there, and Eriol would be no good-- he would just laugh and endure. Tomoyo treasured Syaoran's little upsets. They amused her.

"I'm not wearing it," he said again, his face red at the simple thought. "I don't care how well it matches or how adorable you think it is. It has ruffled sleeves."

"It's Victorian-inspired," Tomoyo told him. Syaoran thought that was a poor excuse-- Tomoyo just liked ruffles. He grunted.

"It will look perfect with Sakura's dress," she insisted, but resolutely he shook his head. Wheedling had worked on him before-- wheedling had gotten him into a pink dress for the love of God, on one memorable occasion, but he was putting his foot down here.

"I'm wearing a suit, Daidouji," he said gruffly, watching her face fall. She fingered the ruffled sleeve and then spent a moment sadly adjusting the collar of the shirt as he felt his resolve begin to weaken.

"You know, the Americans wear these sort of formal shirts to weddings all of the time," she said, and her voice had no sadness in it, just more plotting. She was a clever girl, Tomoyo was.

"We're going to Britain," Syaoran pointed out.

"It's an American-style wedding, though," Tomoyo said. "Kaho-sensei will be wearing a lovely white dress with a train. I helped her pick it out so I would know how to design Sakura's dress in a matching style that wouldn't overshadow the bride. And this will match her dress perfectly. Can't you imagine walking down the aisle with Sakura on your arm, wearing this?"

"Didn't want to be the best man," Syaoran grumbled under his breath, but he had agreed, that was the thing; the fact of the matter was, a winged panther couldn't be, not if they wanted to invite friends from outside the "family."

"Trust me," Tomoyo said. "Sakura-chan will think you're so handsome! And afterward, when she catches the bouquet, the photographs will turn out so nice."

Syaoran flushed but wasn't quite sure what the bouquet thing was about. Sensing his confusion, she explained, and the blush deepened.

"Maybe less ruffles," he said, defeated, and she grinned.
