Excerpt: It won't ever be that smile again, not like old times, but Syaoran is more than grateful just to grace her presence, like he always is.

Why is sleep necessary, anyway? Syaoran thinks, trying to ignore the heaviness behind his eyes. He wants nothing more than to accomplish the goal. (Sleep just gets in the way.) He wants nothing more than those precious feathers, so he can see her smile, even if it's not a smile of recognition (it won't ever be that smile again, not like old times, but Syaoran is more than grateful just to grace her presence, like he always is).

Once, Syaoran told Sakura he'd do anything for her, and Syaoran never lies. He looks straight ahead to the future and plows on. Sometimes Kurogane thinks that he does things no one else would dare to do (not even him, he's not that reckless) simply because no one has told him that he can't do it. He just pushes forward through all the flack.

It's a funny thing that the Syaoran of Clow Country, adopted son of Fujitaka, quester for Sakura's feathers, will never meet Li Syaoran of Hong Kong, Japan, back in that frightening world that Yuuko calls home. It's funny because they are so alike, and Li Syaoran will never give up on his Sakura either.

The two of them plow forward into tomorrow, doing the best they can, and because it's their best, somehow it's always enough for her.
