Excerpt: Kisses at seventy would be the same as kisses at thirty and life would be perfect for the woman who had arranged her life so carefully.

Bette always thought she and Tina were going to be together through the sunset of their lives. They would marry when the politicians managed to remove their heads from their asses. They would raise their daughter and watch her marry someone from whichever gender she preferred. Bette's hair would turn steel-grey and Tina would get agespots, and none of that would matter.

Kisses at seventy would be the same as kisses at thirty and life would be perfect for the woman who had arranged her life so carefully. Her organization would be rewarded.

Bette forgot to account for the messiness of life, and when her life unraveled from the edges, she never could figure out why. (Tina knew.)
