Prompt: 6. argument
Excerpt: How long had it been since they'd left each other with a swift kiss and a hug, a few words and a smile?
Bette didn't remember arguing so much when the two of them were first dating. Even when they both worked long hours, and it was difficult to find time to speak to each other, much less spend time together, they had managed to cohabit in a sort of bliss. There were minor fights, of course, the fights of every relationship. But nothing heavy.
Tina slammed the door when she left and Bette didn't move. How long had it been since they'd left each other with a swift kiss and a hug, a few words and a smile? Bette missed those kisses, soft but firm. I love you. I live here with you. I need you. That's what those kisses said.
Bette sighed and started to dress, the house feeling lonely, with unresolved anger still heavy in the air. She wouldn't admit it to herself yet, but she was starting to feel a little scared.
She thought about the carpenter in the shower.
