Excerpt: Kimie spent most of the day about Takako's errands, as mundane as they could be; getting tea or finding a printout was something special if she was doing it for the President.
Kimie spent most of the day about Takako's errands, as mundane as they could be; getting tea or finding a printout was something special if she was doing it for the President. She watched who she was told to watch and did as she was asked. She was indispensible.
She was in love.
She said nothing; she would never say nothing. She gazed upon her leader from afar and the closest she came to realizing her dream was in bed at night, her eyes screwed shut with imagination. It was enough to take off her glasses and pretend the other girl shared her bed. It was enough. She could tell no one. She was not worthy.
Kimie knew she was a terrible person. She wasn't friendly or kind to anyone but Takako. She cared much too much about grades and much too little about popular subjects like celebrities and music. She was too thin to be properly beautiful and too sensitive for contacts instead of glasses.
She knew that there were those who would say her mistress had flaws as well-- a vibrant temper, untameable red hair, unladylike shouting problems. But as Kimie saw it, Takako's good qualities far outweighed her bad ones. She was an amazing leader and made decisions based on the needs of the people. She was wonderful at rooting out issues and solving them. She was even more beautiful than Mizuho, in Kimie's opinion. Her hair was brighter and her eyes a more pleasing color. How the student body could love Mizuho over Takako was one of life's greatest mysteries (especially since they had elected Takako as well).
But that was okay, because Kimie didn't want to share Takako any more than she had to. She would always be there for her onee-sama. Duty was the sweetest sort of love.
