Excerpt: Edward slitted his eyes and saw the silhouette of a red-headed person with a large smile. There was the sound of water, and then a cold cloth on his face.
There was light burning under his eyelids, and Edward muttered angrily. Al had opened the blinds again, he thought. He tried to shift under his blankets but had a moment of utter panic when he couldn't move.
"Don't try," a soft voice advised. Edward slitted his eyes and saw the silhouette of a red-headed person with a large smile. There was the sound of water, and then a cold cloth on his face. The redhead was humming something under-- surely her-- breath. Ed tried to move anyway.
"You're quite hurt," the woman chastised. "This one wonders where you have been. Barely more than a child," she said sadly.
Edward mentally gritted his teeth. He wanted to complain, he wanted to get up, he wanted to...
The redhead hummed softly and Edward found himself slipping back out of consciousness. The person leaned forward and he caught a hint of an earthy sort of perfume. He liked it. It reminded him of someone-- perhaps the Teacher-- someone who knew hard work, whose hands would likely be rough from it.
He liked her, despite her accusations of youth, so he quit trying to protest and drifted back to sleep.
