Come to Bed (Chuck and Larry gen)
Comm: none; I started writing it for porn_battle on IJ, and then I realized that I didn't want to think about Kevin James and Adam Sander having sex. Prompt: "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, Chuck/Larry, trial and error."

Excerpt: Chuck moved out for a while, but he was only gone a few weeks before he showed up on Larry's doorstep, suitcase in hand. His eyes were tired.
It was stupid and desperate to do what they had done, but it had still been fun, somehow. And now it was all done and Chuck was free to look at breasts and Larry was free to raise his children. They were free to fight about movie deals, to ghostwrite books, or to move far away and change their names.
They did none of these things. Chuck moved out for a while, but he was only gone a few weeks before he showed up on Larry's doorstep, suitcase in hand. His eyes were tired.
"I'm off women for a while," he announced. Larry had answered the door in a bathrobe and his underwear and the chill blew past Chuck into the house. Larry wanted to scold, to complain, to argue, but it was too cold to do that tonight. It was two a.m. and he had to work tomorrow.
And he could hear whispering. "Uncle Chuck is here!" The kids hadn't been thrilled to have their other father leave the house; he made better pancakes and was definitely better at sports than their birth father. They had been a family before Chuck, and they were still a family now, but the kids felt the loss more strongly that Larry had ever suspected they would. It had been hard enough explaining that their relationship was a sham. It was harder still to see the kids watch as Chuck packed and left.
"Go back to bed!" he called down the hallway, and the voices ceased, at least for the moment. He rubbed his forehead and followed Chuck into the kitchen. Chuck had already located the coffee filters and the coffee can.
"I have to work tomorrow," Larry said. Chuck nodded, but didn't stop pouring. When he'd set the coffeemaker up, he sat down at the table and buried his head in his hands.
"What happened, man?" Larry asked, feeling sympathy even though his weariness. Chuck had shown up on his doorstep plenty of times before they'd gotten married, but he'd never looked so down and out.
"She threw me out, Larry. I don't even know what I did," he said. He sounded utterly miserable and Larry patted his shouler awkwardly before crossing the room to stand before the coffeemaker. He'd never been good in situations like this. Generally Chuck wanted to curse the woman who'd thrown him out of her home. He didn't miss her.
He poured two cups and sat down in a kitchen chair next to his friend, who hadn't moved. Chuck lifted his head for long enough to run his arm across his cheeks and grab the cup of coffee. He took one drink and then sat with the cup in his lap. It had to be burning him, but he didn't show it.
"I really thought she was the one, you know," he said. Larry decided to try a joke.
"Yeah, that's what you said about me too, you know," he said.
Chuck looked up angrily. "This isn't a joke, Larry. This is really... screwed up, man. This sucks."
"I'm sorry," Larry said. "I just don't know what to say. It sucks."
"It does," Chuck agreed, running his fingers around the coffee cup's rim. "It really does. Larry... Larry, can I sleep here tonight? I don't have anywhere else to go. I moved straight in with her when I moved out here."
Larry knew that it was never a good idea to let the ex sleep over, but in this specific case he didn't think it mattered.
"Yeah," he said softly, "come on."
He grabbed Chuck's coffee and set it in the sink, and then he pulled his despondent friend to his feet. The dark circles under Chuck's eyes were prominent. It looked as though he hadn't slept well in months. Since he'd left, maybe.
They walked down the hall to the bedroom and Larry popped into the bathroom, calling, "That shirt of mine you like to steal is in the back of the closet."
"Thanks," Chuck called back tiredly, and he rummaged in the closet, changing before Larry emerged from the bathroom.
"Took you long enough," he said, with a semblance of old humor.
"Hope you don't have to go," Larry shot back, climbing into bed. Chuck found his side and they wrestled over covers for a moment before Larry turned the light off and turned over.
"Larry?" Chuck said after a moment.
"Mmm?" said Larry, almost asleep already.
"I could have slept on the couch," he said.
"Whatever," Larry mumbled. "Just go to sleep."
Chuck lay still for a long moment, listening to Larry drift off again. He smiled a little. Then he turned over and got comfortable himself, and went to sleep too.
