Excerpt: Dart came in as I spoke. He looked from me to Arowen and frowned. "Dear, what are we going to do about the baby-sitter?" he asked. "I know it's good for the little one to go out with us, but..."
"Mammaa! I wanna go, I wanna go!!!" His little face contorted in toddler rage and he beat his fists against my shins. I winced; I would have gotten bruises had I not been what I was. But I was used to Arowen's fits.
"I wanna I wanna I wanna!" he screamed, grabbing me around the knees.
"You can't," I rejoined firmly and pried his hands from where he was latched onto my legs. I held him up by one fist so that our eyes were even and repeated myself.
"You can't go. Tonight is Mama and Daddy's night. I'll take you out tomorrow, babe."
He squirmed in my grasp and tried to kick my ribs. In response I dropped him-- he kicked hard-- and he landed on his small bottom. The fall hadn't really hurt him but, angry at my power as his mother, he began to cry.
"The baby-sitter knows where your dinner is and I told her to let you stay up an extra half-hour, now isn't that nice?" I pleaded with him. I hated these tantrums. Arowen thinks that just because he's my first child...
His lip quivered and he grew silent. Tears dripped down his cheeks and he gave me a plaintive look.
"Daddy isn't going to like this," I said in a warning tone, but he gave me the same look. Finally I gave in.
"Okay, just this once..."
Dart came in as I spoke. He looked from me to Arowen and frowned.
"Dear, what are we going to do about the baby-sitter?" he asked. "I know it's good for the little one to go out with us, but..."
Without waiting for an answer he began his Change. As the fur grew and his teeth lengthened, he shot me a disapproving look made even more piercing when his blue eyes bled into feral gold.
I reached down and grabbed Arowen between the shoulder blades, and with a practiced flick I "threw" him into wolf form. He gave a delighted bark. After a moment I joined them with four paws.
"Well? The babysitter?" Dart asked, thumping his tail.
I yawned and licked a paw. "We'll just eat in tonight, I suppose."
"Can I have the liver, Mama, can I?" Arowen asked, jumping in excitement. "I wanna grow big and strong like Daddy so I can rip peopleses froats out!"
"It's 'people's' and 'throats,' sweetheart," I corrected gently as the baby-sitter walked in and saw us sitting there on the carpet, all huge and furry and sharp-fanged. She drew breath to scream. No matter. Our walls were sound-proofed. In fact, this would be good training for my son.
We leapt at once and fed.

Werewolves? How does the flicking-changing-to-wolf thing work?
That makes me never want to babysit again. xD Some of them are ghoulish enough even when completely human.

Werewolves? How does the flicking-changing-to-wolf thing work?
I didn't really think about much, to be honest. I'd imagine it's sort of like grabbing the back of his neck and maybe tossing him forward-- the shock and maybe Mom's focus gives him wolf shape.
