Summary/Notes/Warnings: Sonomi tries to give Nadeshiko a chemistry lesson, but ends up learning something herself.

"It's all chemical," Sonomi said, and rolled her eyes. Nadeshiko looked confused, so Sonomi gestured to the chemistry book she was reading.

"This love crap," she said. "It's just a bunch of chemicals in your body that are saying, 'That man is cute! Let's reproduce!'"

Nadeshiko giggled. "Don't be silly, Sonomi-chan. You know that's not it. You have someone special that you love, don't you?"

She was laying on Sonomi's bed reading her Japanese homework, and Sonomi was on the floor, studying chemistry. Nadeshiko turned over on her back and leaned her head off the bed, so that she was eye level with Sonomi but upside-down. Sonomi found this disconcerting. She looked away.

"Yes," she mumbled as her face reddened.

"Well, then you know how it is!" Nadeshiko said, flipping back over and putting her face in her hands. She was thinking about Fugitaka, Sonomi knew, because she made that strange little hanyaan sound. Sonomi used to think it was adorable when Nadeshiko said "hanyaan," but not any more. It was just a reminder that that stupid teacher had muscled his way in-between them.

"Love isn't just chemicals. Sure, they give love a jump start. But chemicals don't make someone want to be with somebody else forever..." She sighed and held her book to her chest.

"Forever?" Sonomi said, lifting an eyebrow, and Nadeshiko decided that it might be a good time to tell her cousin she was getting married.
