Excerpt: Distance relationships don't work, or she would know her father. Young love doesn't work, or her parents would still be married.
Tomoyo is nothing if not constant. She's always been constant to Sakura, and she knows that eventually she will have her, because she knows how these things go. Distance relationships don't work, or she would know her father. Young love doesn't work, or her parents would still be married.
All Tomoyo has to do is wait, and though that makes things easier when she tires, it also makes her sad. When she hears Sakura talk about Syaoran, it makes her sad because she knows how these things go. Some things in this world are constant, but love is not usually one of them. Love takes too much work for most people to make it last. Not for Tomoyo-- for her, love is as easy as breathing and as difficult to stop doing-- but she knows that most people don't have it in them to last.
Sakura is rambling on about her "sweet, wonderful boyfriend Syaoran," and Tomoyo is listening, but she has time to think between her responses.
One of these days you'll be mine. That will be a sad day.
